Voltage and frequency used in New Zealand

All sockets in New Zealand provide a standard voltage of 230V with a frequency of 50Hz.

You can use all your equipment in New Zealand if the standard voltage in your own country is between 220V-240V. This is mostly the case in Europe, Australia, United Kingdom and most countries in Africa and Asia.

If the standard voltage in your country is in the range of 100V-127V (which is most common in the US, Canada and countries in South America) you will need a voltage converter in New Zealand. Without a converter you will damage you electronic equipment.

Voltage converters are available trough the links below, you can also choose for a plug adapter and voltage converter in one device.

The standard frequency in New Zealand is 50Hz. If this frequency is different than the frequency in your home country we do not recommend to use your electronic equipment in New Zealand. But if the voltage is the same (230V) it is possible to use your equipment for a short time (AT YOUR OWN RISK). This especially applies to any moving, rotating or time related appliances.
